Extras is one such thing that is not talked about enough by everyone and it adds to the score of the batting team and the bowling team has an extra number of runs that it has to chase to win the match. Extras are conceded in almost every innings of the IPL but there are some innings where the bowling team concedes more extra runs than they should ideally give away.
In the hundreds of IPL matches which have taken place over the 14 seasons extras are the common thing in every innings and teams try to give as few extra runs as possible but sometimes they are under pressure which forces them to give those extra runs to the batting team. So, let’s take a look at the Top 5 most extras in an innings in IPL.
1. Kolkata Knight Riders (28 extras):
This record that no team wants beside it’s name is unfortunately held by the Kolkata Knight Riders who conceded 28 extras in this match against the then Deccan Chargers in the first season of the IPL in 2008. The Deccan Chargers only made 112 runs in this innings and out of these few runs as well 28 runs were in the form of extras which is simply astonishing to say the least. They conceded 15 wides, 8 leg byes, 4 byes and 1 no ball in total. The KKR team after this match got better as far as extras were concerned but their name might feature again in this list.

2. Kings X1 Punjab (27 Extras):
The situation in this match is in stark contrast to the first match on this list as Kings X1 Punjab in this match were being punished by the RCB batters throughout the innings and as a result of all that pressure, their bowlers were conceding those extra runs but still had they not conceded those extras they would not have allowed RCB to make 232 runs in that innings. They conceded 14 leg byes, 7 byes, 4 wides and 2 no balls in their bowling innings which is a lot even if the batters of the opposition team are going hammer and tonks.

3. Chennai Super Kings (26 Extras):
A lot of people will be surprised to see the name of this team on this list as they are known for their discipline be it bowling or batting. They are a great bowling unit who hardly concede extras but they also had one bad day and it was against their arch rivals Mumbai Indians and they gave away 10 wides and 16 leg byes as extras in this innings and they got better after this match as well in this regard.

4. Rajasthan Royals (26 Extras):
Rajasthan Royals are a team that are also like the CSK team and are very disciplined but they also conceded a lot of extras in this innings against the RCB team and it was in the first season in 2008 where they were under the pump in this match as well. In total they conceded 18 wides, 6 leg byes, 1 bye and 1 no ball throughout their bowling innings. They win The IPL that year which shows they only got better as the season rolled Along.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders (26 Extras):
Seeing the name of the KKR team for the second time in this list is not a thing their bowling attack will be proud of. The only good thing is that between the first and the this time there was a gap of 7 years and in this match they conceded 190 runs against Rajasthan Royals and in extras they gave away 18 wides, 5 no balls and 3 leg byes ,the number of no balls was especially horrendous by the KKR team in this match.
