Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni created history during the IPL 2025 match against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday night (7th May) by becoming the first wicketkeeper to record 200 dismissals in IPL history.
MS Dhoni: Most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in IPL
In the first innings of the match, CSK captain MS Dhoni recorded one stumping and one catch with his gloves to complete his 200 IPL dismissals as a wicketkeeper. In the eighth over, Noor Ahmad came to deliver his first over, and the opener Sunil Narine (26) was stumped by MS Dhoni on the first delivery. It was Dhoni’s 199th IPL dismissal as a wicketkeeper.
On the fourth ball of that same over, the new batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi (1) was caught behind after Dhoni grabbed the edge sharply. It set up a new history in the Indian Premier League, as Dhoni became the first wicketkeeper to record 200 dismissals in the tournament. At the end of the match, the legendary Indian cricketer recorded 153 catches and 47 stumpings as a wicketkeeper in IPL history.
