The 35-year-old Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin played a crucial role for Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) latest victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last Tuesday (26th April) night. During that game, Ashwin became India’s leading wicket-taker in T20.
It was the 39th match of the IPL 2022, where RR faced RCB at Pune. While RR scored 144/8 in 20 overs, RCB were bowled out for just 115 runs (19.3 overs). RR won that game by 29 runs and climbed up top of the points table with 12 points in eight matches.
While the right-arm fast bowler Kuldeep Sen bagged four wickets (4/20), Ravichandran Ashwin scalped three wickets (3/17) in the second innings. With those three wickets, Ashwin has collected a total of 271 T20 wickets and became India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 after surpassing the leg-spinner Piyush Chawla (270 wickets).
