RCB vs GT IPL 2026 Final - Teams Preview
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are a team that has started playing consistent cricket ever since the 2025 season. They won last season and this year they have gotten better. While the other teams have had up and down seasons, the RCB team were consistent and they topped the league table and earned a place in Qualifier 1. They won the Qualifier 1 by 92 runs against GT. They are a well oiled machine and it will take a very bad day for them to not come close to winning.
Gujarat Titans on the other hand were a team that had to do it the hard way. They finished 2nd in the points table but they were soundly beaten in the first Qualifier which took place in Dharamshala. Then they had to travel to Mullanpur and after winning that match they had to travel to Ahmedabad for the final. Both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan have scored over 700 runs in IPL 2026. Their fast bowling is the best in the whole tournament. They will play the final on their home ground.
RCB vs GT Head to Head
These two teams have an even Head to Head record. They have played 8 Matches and both have won 4 Matches each. This will be the tie breaker 9th Match and what a Grand stage to do it. The final was originally scheduled in Bengaluru but it was shifted to Ahmedabad because of local issues.
Who Has The Edge in the IPL 2026 Final?
Even though the Final is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which is the home ground for Gujarat Titans, the advantage will be with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The reasons are as follows –
They won the first Qualifier against the same opposition only 5 days ago and that will play fresh in the minds of both the teams.
The RCB team has had a 5 day rest in which they went to Ahmedabad early and have had 2 practice sessions on the pitch. GT have had to play one extra match in Mullanpur and so that will affect the physical fitness of the players.
The batting of RCB is not only dependent on the Top 3 like Gujarat Titans. They have batters that can win any match upto number 7. Krunal Pandya, Tim David, Jitesh Sharma are all middle order batters. GT does not have that luxury. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will have to do the heavy lifting.
The spinners for RCB are in much better form as compared to Gujarat Titans. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma are a good tandem. Rashid Khan has been out of form for GT. The one thing that GT will have is home advantage in the final.
