Riyan Parag Becomes First Indian To Record Special All-Round Figures In An IPL Match

During the 39th match of the IPL 2022, where Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Pune last Tuesday (26th April) night, the 20-year-old Riyan Parag played a very crucial role for Rajasthan Royals to win that game. He won the Player of the Match award in that game, where he became the first Indian to record special all-round figures in an IPL match.

After RCB sent RR to bat first in that game, while other RR batters were struggling, Riyan Parag scored a very important 56 not out off 31 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes. The right-handed middle-order batter was the only player to score 30+ runs in that entire game. His batting helped RR to manage the match-winning total of 144/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, RCB were all out for 115 runs (19.3 overs) as RR won that game by 29 runs to move on top of the points table (12 points in eight games). During that second innings, Parag successfully took four catches.

So, during that game, Riyan Parag scored 50+ runs (56*) and also took four catches. He became the first Indian to score 50+ runs and also to take four catches in an IPL match. However, in the overall record, Parag was the third cricketer to manage 50+ runs as well as four catches in an IPL match. Earlier, two foreigners achieved those incredible all-round feats in a single IPL match.
