Sheldon Jackson Cricketer Story

Sheldon Phillip Jackson was born on 27th September,1986. He is a wicket-keeper batsman. In domestic cricket, he represents Saurashtra. He is from Bhavnagar, Gujarat.

He was first spotted by Joydeep Mukherjee, the former Bengal player and was signed by the franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009. In the 2012-13 Ranji trophy season, he made four fifties and three centuries. He played a crucial knock of back to back hundreds in the knockout matches. This was never an easy task against teams like Karnataka and Punjab and that too in the quarter final and semi final respectively. Not only this was his individual achievement but also he helped his team reach the Ranji trophy final for the first time in history. His performance helped him get into the India A side. In 2015-16, he was part of Saurashtra's title winning team. In that year itself, his unbeaten 59 against the Rest of India pulled off the third highest successful run chase in the Indian domestic cricket history. In the shorter format, he keeps wicket for his team.

At 25, Sheldon thought of quitting cricket as he was not getting into the Ranji team playing eleven and had to warm the bench for years. It was all doom and gloom for him. This is the moment when he decided to quit his cricketing career. Then one of his close friends suggested that he give himself another year and see what happens to him. He also assured him that he will provide him a job in his work factory if that year doesn't go well but he wanted him to pursue cricket another year and test the water. This advice from his friend gave him assurance plus some extra motivation to continue cricket. Luckily, that year things started to change not slowly but completely for him. He scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket and got picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore later in that year. His cricketing career got revived and from then on he did not have to look back. He recalled that if he hadn't been a cricketer, he would have been a panipuri seller. His cricketing career turned 360 degrees and he became one of the popular names in the domestic circuit.

This season he is playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. It has been a mixed season for him till now. Hope it turns out to be a great one for him.
