In-form SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) snatched another brilliant win after beating the struggling hosts Mumbai Indians (MI), whose luck in the IPL 2026 hasn’t changed on Wednesday night (29 April) despite scoring a huge total.
After MI chose to bat first, Ryan Rickelton’s unbeaten century (123 not out off 55 balls) guided them to a total of 243/5 in 20 overs. However, SRH successfully chased the target in 18.4 overs after losing four wickets. SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head provided a strong start with a 129-run partnership for the first wicket. While Abhishek scored 45 off 24 balls, Head smashed 76 off 30 balls. Later, Heinrich Klaasen scored 65 not out off 30 balls, while Salil Arora had a furious cameo of 30 not out off 10 balls to guide the team to the successful chase.
Ryan Rickelton's record-breaking century
MI opener Ryan Rickelton completed his century in 44 balls.
It was the fastest century by a Mumbai Indians batter. The previous record was a 45-ball century, which was jointly held by Sanath Jayasuriya (vs Chennai Super Kings in 2008) and Tilak Varma (vs Gujarat Titans in 2026).
It was the second-fastest century by any batter against SunRisers Hyderabad. The record is a 36-ball century by Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in Jaipur in the ongoing IPL season.
MI opener Ryan Rickelton scored 123 not out.
It was the highest score by a Mumbai Indians batter. The previous record was 114 not out by Sanath Jayasuriya against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2008.
