Namboori Thakur Tilak Varma was born on 8th November,2002. He is a left hand batsman. He represents Hyderabad in domestic cricket.

Tilak Varma comes from a very humble background. His father Namboori Nagaraju is an electrician and he was unable to afford his son's cricket coaching at one point. As cricket equipment is expensive, it was very difficult for him to provide such financial support to his son. Looking at Tilak's potential and family condition, his coach, Salam Bayash, took care of all his expenses and made sure his dream did not fade away. He bought him all the equipment and provided him with the required diet so that he can compete with other players and never lag behind due to financial reasons. That's the kind of support a student always seeks from a teacher. He recalled that his father never used to say no or refuse him whenever he asked something but he always said that it will happen later. Due to financial reasons, his father felt bad for not fulfilling his son's wishes but he never told him no to demotivate him. Once his bat was broken and he asked his father to buy a new one but his father was not able to buy it for a long time. As he could not do anything about it as such, he played a U-16 match with that broken bat and scored a lot of runs in that innings. This performance caught his coach's attention and made him take his overall responsibility. Tilak mentioned that today he can achieve so much because of his coach.

He recalled that after getting picked up by Mumbai Indians, his favorite team, he video called his parents and wanted to know their situation. It was a priceless situation for him and his family.

He made his first class debut on 30th December,2018 against Andhra Pradesh. He made his List A debut on 28th September,2019 against Saurashtra at Alur. He made his T20 debut against Services at Delhi. He has decent numbers to reflect on his young career so far and will be looking to improve as the year goes on. He played a few vital knocks in this year's IPL as well. As a youngster, he is proving his worth for the franchise.
