Top 5 players to watch out for at IPL 2024 auction

The retention day is over and the only thing left to do is to wait for the IPL Auction which will happen on the 19th of December. The Auction will take place in Dubai and this will be the biggest mini auction in IPL history. The retentions and the trades that have happened have made sure that everyone will see and tune in for the Auction. The franchises have released a lot of big players who will be again on the market and there will also be players who have said they will play the IPL next year.

Let’s look at the Top 5 Players to Watch Out For at IPL Auction 2024

1) Rachin Ravindra

There is no doubt that this Young all rounder from New Zealand will be one of the players that will be most in demand. Rachin Ravindra stormed the World Cup 2023 just a few weeks earlier. He made 578 runs in his debut World Cup with 3 centuries to his name. He was the best young player of the tournament and the fans of RCB want their team to take him as he has roots in Bangalore. He is a solid opening or a number 3 batter and he can bowl 4 overs of left arm spin in this season.

2) Pat Cummins

The 2023 World Cup winning captain will also be on high demand. In 2023 alone Pat Cummins won the World Test Championship, Retained the Ashes and won the 2023 ODI World Cup. He is among the best fast bowlers in the world and he will be bought for a lot of money. A few teams might be looking for an overseas fast bowler but also a solid backup in the leadership department. He can also bat lower down the order as was visible 2 seasons ago when he made 2 mind blowing half centuries for KKR.

3) Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc has made himself available for the 2024 IPL a long time ago and all the teams want to sign him. He is the best left arm fast bowler in the world and the pace and accuracy he has is simply incredible. He had stellar performances in the 2023 World Cup Semi final and final and was an important member of the winning team. He can also bat lower down the order as he has shown in the semi final of the World Cup by winning such a high pressure match for Australia.

4) Shardul Thakur

The Indian all rounder was released by Kolkata Knight Riders on retention day and he was a player who cost them 10.75 crores so it made sense that they let him go. Shardul Thakur was a good player and he played in the World Cup for the first few matches but was unable to create an impact. However he will be in high demand as he is an Indian international all rounder and those are a rarity these days. He can bat at number 8 and he can bowl 4 overs throughout the innings. A lot of teams will be going for him and looking to secure his services.

5) Lockie Ferguson

The KKR team is the team that has released the most number of high profile players and one of them is one of the fastest bowlers in the world in Lockie Ferguson. Lockie Ferguson cost KKR 10 crores and he did not deliver the performances that was expected out of him and Gautam Gambhir who is the new mentor of KKR decided that KKR needs a lot of changes. Lockie Ferguson will be in demand by all the franchises as most need an express pace bowler who can terrify the opponent with his sheer pace. Lockie Ferguson will again be a millionaire.
