2024 Olympics AFC Women's Football Qualifying Tournament Round 1: Groups and Fixture

The 2024 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament Round 1 begins next month on 1 April 2023 and will run until 11 April 2023. This will be the sixth edition of the tournament. 25 nations were initially drawn into seven groups but five nations withdrew their team for various reasons after the first-round draw in January. As a result, 21 teams will play in the qualifiers. The side finishing at the top of their group will qualify for the second round to be held in October 2023. Games will be played at a centralized venue.

Afghanistan was withdrawn by the AFC from the group in February 2023. The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) released a statement that it would not permit players outside the country to represent them or intend to organize a women's national team. It comes after the media director of AFF posted a contradictory statement about the formation of a new women’s national team with players living abroad to apply. The Afghanistan team was originally disbanded following the 2021 Taliban takeover of the country. Palestine is the other nation that dropped off from the group.

All games will be played at the Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi in Thailand.

 

FIFA announced the suspension of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) until further notice. Therefore, all teams/clubs affiliated with the FFSL are no longer entitled to take part in international competitions. Hence, Sri Lanka was removed from the group.
