Suraj Panwar was born on 2nd April 2001. He is from Karbari Grant village in Uttarakhand. His father Udai Singh Panwar was a forest guard who was killed on duty while attempting to stop the illegal logging of trees. Suraj’s mother Poonam worked at the forest department’s nursery.
In his career, Suraj has never participated in the marathon race walking mixed relay team event.

In the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championship 2024 in Antalya, Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh booked one Indian Paris 2024 Olympics quota in the marathon race walk mixed relay event after finishing the race in 18th place by clocking 3:05:03.
During the Indian Open Race Walking Competition 2024 in Chandigarh, Suraj Panwar (1:19:44) breached the Paris 2024 Olympics qualification standard in the men’s 20km race walk event (1:20:10) along with Servin (1:20:03) and Arshpreet Singh (1:20:04). However, the results were declared invalid by the World Athletics citing some technical issues.
However, it was later decided that Priyanka Goswami and Suraj Panwar would partner in the marathon race walking mixed relay team event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
