AEW Championships That Should Be Retired

AEW is a company that was formed in 2019 and it has been 7 years since it has been operational. When it started the number of belts that the company had was minimal and the titles meant something. There was one main Men’s World title, a Women’s title, The TNT Championship, the TBS Championship, Tag Team Championship. However it has all changed and the number of titles present in the company is too much.

Let’s look at the 5 Titles that AEW needs to remove from the company

The AEW National Championship

This is one of the newest belts to be introduced in AEW. It was introduced in November 2025 and frankly this title serves no purpose in the company. There are a number of other mid card titles in AEW including the TNT Championship, The Continental Championship etc. The stars who are in the mid card should work hard and they should have one or two belts maximum. Tony Khan needs to focus on improving the existing titles and not bring on more belts.

The AEW Continental Championship

The AEW Continental Classic is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the company. It is for the Continental Championship as was seen with Jon Moxley in 2025 when he became the Continental Champion. AEW can make the Continental Classic more important by having the winner of the tournament get a shot for the AEW Continental Championship at AEW Revolution. The AEW Continental Championship is a title they does not need to be around. The Continental Classic can be like the G1 Climax is for NJPW.

The AEW World Trios Championship

The Trios Championship is one of the oldest titles in AEW history. It is a division that has been there for the company. This division makes it different from WWE. However currently there are not many trios present in AEW. Tony Khan doesn’t give much importance to the Trios division currently and the titles are something that don’t do much. AEW can remove the belts and can focus on the tag team titles. The superstars who are a part of a trio should either be singles stars or two of them could become a tag team.

The AEW TNT Championship

The AEW TNT Championship is one of the oldest titles in AEW. It has a very rich legacy and the first set of champions were Incredible. Cody Rhodes was the TNT Champion, The late great Brodie Lee was also the TNT Champion. Miro was a former TNT Champion. However in the last few years the TNT Championship has lost a lot of steam as the likes of Dustin Rhodes, Mark Briscoe, Kyle Fletcher have become Champions. Kyle Fletcher has brought some prestige back but he can be the World Champion. This belt should have been retired in the honour of Brodie Lee.

The FTW Championship

The most useless belt to ever exist in AEW history has been the FTW Championship. It was retired in 2024 on a partial basis. However it has been brought back sporadically and that is something which is not good. Whenever a legend needs a pop of a moment this belt is brought back. Tony Khan has to permanently retire this title. Hook has had his career derailed because of this belt. Chris Jericho left AEW because of this title.
