Mercedes Mone beat Jamie Hayter in the Final of Women’s Owen Hart Cup
The first match on the show was the final of the Women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament. It was between Mercedes Mone vs Jamie Hayter. This was a 21 minutes all time classic. It is in the running for the best Women’s Match of the year and maybe the best match of the year. Mercedes Mone was targeting the back of Jamie Hayter from the start of the match. Jamie Hayter hit the Statement Maker but it was a 2 count. Mercedes Mone hit the Meteora Frog splash but it was not enough to win the match. Mercedes Mone used all her experience and her speed. After 21 minutes, it was Mercedes Mone who won this instant classic and she will now challenge the AEW Women’s Champion at All In.
FTR beat Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness
This was 22 minutes which would have been perfect at 15 minutes. Nigel McGuinness was not on the level of his opponents and it was showing. He was fighting for the future of AEW. FTR were the established tag team and they were using their tag team moves but they were not able to win the match. Daniel Garcia showed why he was in this spot. FTR hit the Shatter machine to get the win. This was a good tag team match.
Ricochet beat Mark Briscoe in a Stretcher Match
This was one of the most brutal wrestling matches in a long time. It was the heel Ricochet against a man who was loved by the fans. Mark Briscoe showed his technical brilliance and his power as he was attacking Ricochet. Ricochet busted Mark Briscoe open and that gave him a clear advantage in this match. It was looking like that after 16 minutes of hardcore wrestling it was going to be Mark Briscoe, however Ricochet used two pairs of scissors to win the match. This was a very good match which elevated both men.
The Hurt Syndicate beat Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes for AEW World Tag Team Championship
This was one of the weakest matches in this show. It was a 12 minute match when it needed to be shorter than 10. MJF as the newest member was helping his fellow members. He poked the eye of Dustin Rhodes. Shelton Benjamin took out Sammy Guevara. Bobby Lashley was not happy seeing MJF interfere. The two teams did not have the kind of chemistry that makes a good tag team match. The Hurt Syndicate won the match and are still tag team champions. They need good opponents at All In.
Kazuchika Okada beat Mike Bailey for AEW Continental Championship
This was a huge opportunity for Mike Bailey to show the world why he is one of the best in the world. This was a 16 minute match against the Rainmaker. Mike Bailey attacked the champion from the start. He delivered a barrage of kicks and chops to the champion. He however was not able to get the fall. Okada came back in the match as he started hitting the clotheslines he is known for. He avoided a Shooting Star Press from Mike Bailey. Mike Bailey took too long to hit his finisher which allowed Okada to hit the Rainmaker for the win. He will now most likely face Kenny Omega at All In.
Toni Storm beat Mina Shirakawa for AEW Women’s Championship
Mina Shirakawa had one objective and that was to establish herself as the next big Star in the company. She did exactly that in this 16 minute Banger. Toni Storm was working the match she always does. It was Mina Shirakawa who was attacking the knee of Toni Storm. She was hitting moves that wowed the fans. Toni Storm was in a lot of pain but she overcame all the pain to retain her title. Toni Storm hit Storm Zero to get the win. After the match both women kissed as a show of respect. Toni Storm will now face Mercedes Mone at All In.
Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs beat The Young Bucks and The Death Riders in Anarchy in the Arena Match
This was the best Anarchy In the Arena Match in the history of AEW. This was 35 minutes of pure fun. The Death Riders were represented by Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir and Claudio Castagnoli. This carnage had everything. Tables, Chairs, Staples, Thumbtacks were used to inflict punishment on each other. Hook returned to AEW and Mark Briscoe, all bloodied, was also in the match. Kenny Omega threw Matt Jackson on top of an exploding table which was not the finish. Claudio Castagnoli gave the spin to Swerve Strickland and then he sent him to the speaker. Kenny Omega delivered a massive suplex to Marina Shafir on a table. The babyfaces won and now everyone in this match will have their road to All In in July.
Adam Page beat Will Osperay in the Final of Men’s Owen Hart Cup
This match is the best match of the year and these two men will forever be immortalized with this match. The Owen Hart Cup finals were the two best matches of the night. This was 37 minutes of pure wrestling magic. The crowd was electric and they were cheering for both men. Adam Page was aggressive and that brought out the best in Will Osperay. Both men hit each other’s finishers on each other but that was not enough to win this classic. Adam Page hit the Buckshot Lariat but Will Osperay hit him with a kick to the face. Adam Page survived the Stormbreaker which is the finish for Will Osperay. Will Osperay hit the V trigger which is used by Kenny Omega. Adam Page hit Big Pressure by Swerve Strickland. After 37 minutes, Adam Page hit another Buckshot Lariat to win the match. He will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship T All In.
