AEW Double or Nothing is the second biggest AEW show of the year behind All In. This show has been happening for almost 7 years now. There have been lots of great Matches at this show and to choose the best 5 is difficult. There are more than 10 Matches in every Double or Nothing show.
Let’s look at the Top 5 AEW Double or Nothing Matches
1) Cody Rhodes vs Dustin Rhodes – 2019
This is highly regarded as not only the best match in the history of Double or Nothing but also one of the best AEW Matches of all time. It was a battle between the brothers. Cody Rhodes wanted to kill the Attitude Era and GoldDust. The match was bloody and both the brothers laid it all out there. Cody Rhodes was trying to finish his brother early but Dustin Rhodes would not go down. They had a 30 minute classic. Both brothers were even showing respect to each other. Dustin Rhodes came swinging early but Cody was the heel so he was smart. After the match both brothers hugged and Cody Rhodes asked Dustin to be his partner in the future.
2) The Young Bucks vs The Lucha Brothers – 2019
The storyline going into this match was very simple. It was to determine which was the best tag team in the world. This was for the AAA Tag Team Championship. This match was tag team wrestling at its finest. The Lucha Brothers showed the world why they are so good as they used unique tag team moves and The Young Bucks used their high flying moves to gain advantage. There were numerous kicks, frog splashes and there were near falls. This was also the first match in what would turn out to be a legendary rivalry between The Young Bucks vs The Lucha Brothers.
3) Kenny Omega vs PAC vs Orange Cassidy – 2021
At number 3 is the AEW World Championship Match from 2021. This was a triple threat match between the champion Kenny Omega, the High flying PAC and Orange Cassidy. Kenny Omega had been a dominant champion going into this match. This was a match in which there were 3 completely different Styles of wrestling involved. Kenny Omega was the wrestling technician, PAC was the high flying genius and Orange Cassidy was the one with the most style. This match was incredible and it allowed PAC and Orange Cassidy to show that they are great wrestlers. PAC was applying submissions on his opponents and Orange Cassidy was wrestling with the best. There were close calls but Don Callis helped Kenny Omega win the match.
4) Anarchy in the Arena Match – 2022
This match is an annual staple of Double or Nothing. The one that happened in 2022 was the best of all. It featured The Jericho Appreciation Society which was represented by Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Angelo Parker and Matt Menard. They were taking on The Blackpool Combat Club of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz. This was a violent and brutal 23 minute match. They fought all throughout the arena and used every weapon they could. Even a gasoline can was used in this match. Eddie Kingston was one of the stars of this match. Jake Hager choked out Bryan Danielson to win the match for his team.
5) MJF vs Darby Allin vs Sammy Guevara vs Jack Perry – 2023
At number 5 is the match that took place in 2023 between four original stars of AEW. This was a match for the AEW World Championship. It was an excellent match. MJF was the heel and so he used every opportunity to win this match. Darby Allin is the man that has no fear and he showed all of it. Jack Perry showed his athleticism and these four had great chemistry in the ring. MJF was trying his best to cheat and win but was stopped by Jack Perry. In the end it was MJF who won the match and was the World Champion. There will be bangers at AEW Double or Nothing 2025.
