AEW is a wrestling promotion that has been in the professional wrestling industry for 7 years. It has been the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world since late 2018. 1. Jon Moxley
Jon Moxley has been a 4-time AEW World Champion, and he has been the most important champion in history. Jon Moxley came from WWE in 2019, and in 7 years he has established himself as one of the all-time greats in modern professional wrestling. His most significant achievement was when, during the COVID pandemic in 2020, Jon Moxley was the face that ran AEW as the World Champion and made sure that the wrestlers had work and food on the plate. His last reign, where he was the champion for over 270 days, was a good and his longest one. He would like to become a 5-time champion soon.
2. MJF
The two-time and current AEW World Champion MJF is absolutely one of the best AEW World Champions of all time. His first reign is still the longest in the history of AEW at 406 days. He is also the best heel in professional wrestling, and he is one heck of a professional wrestler. He has had bangers against Bryan Danielson, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Adam Page etc. His second reign is not that long, and he will have a match against Adam Page at AEW Revolution. MJF is in his late 20s, so that means he can be in AEW for the next 15 years.
3. Chris Jericho
The first AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, has to be on this list. Without Chris Jericho, there would not be an AEW for all these great men and women to have a flourishing career. Chris Jericho was a great champion who ensured that the belt was seen everywhere. He used all his clout and name, and he had matches that were some of his best of all time. He had barn burners against Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, Jon Moxley, and other names. Chris Jericho will always be very special to Tony Khan and AEW. However, it looks like he has reached his end in AEW and is ready for one last run in WWE.
4. Kenny Omega
The Ace Kenny Omega is one of those men that have had a great 20-year career as a professional wrestler but have never wrestled in WWE. He is the biggest name in this category. He has been AEW World Champion multiple times. He had a reign that was over 380 days, and he has had absolutely incredible matches in AEW. He wrestled Bryan Danielson, Swerve Strickland, Kazuchika Okada, MJF, Chris Jericho, and many others. He is still in AEW, and he will be world champion yet again in 2026. Kenny Omega is arguably one of the greatest professional wrestlers of the last 20 years.
5. Swerve Strickland
The first Black AEW World Champion will be on this list all the time. He was the man that broke the glass ceiling for Black wrestlers in AEW. His World Championship win is one of the most significant moments because it gives confidence to other Black male wrestlers that it can be done. It took WWE almost double the time to have their first Black World Champion. Swerve Strickland has recently transitioned to being a heel, and the AEW World Championship will be in his sights. Unfortunately there are no other Black wrestlers in AEW that could reach the level of Swerve Strickland. Whereas WWE has 3 bonafide Black superstars in Oba Femi, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans.
