There are a lot of titles that are there in professional wrestling as a whole as there are many wrestlers in many different companies that are there and in every company there are multiple Championships. The total number of wrestling titles exceeds 50 easily and out of those to select the Top 5 would be a challenge. There are companies which have been going on for a long time such as WWE, NJPW, TNA etc and some are that have recently been formed like AEW and ROH was also a prestigious promotion.

Let’s look at the Top 5 Most Prestigious Championships in Professional Wrestling:

1) WWE Championship

This is the undisputed greatest and the most prestigious title in all of professional wrestling. The lineage and the wrestlers that have held this title far exceed any other wrestling championship. This title has been around for more than 60 years and the legacy of this Championship goes from Bruno Sammartino to Roman Reigns in the current generation. This title is the one that every male Wrestler wants to win once in their life as to say that they were WWE Champion. So, no matter how many titles are there in wrestling, this will be the number 1.

2) IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

This is the World Championship of NJPW and this is the second most important title in wrestling and the wrestlers who are not able to win the WWE Championship want to win this one as this is also a title that has a long lineage and prestige and the likes of AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada, Brock Lesnar, Hiroshi Tanahashi have all won this Championship and they are some of the biggest legends of this sport and this is the wrestlers World Championship. It has been the epitome of excellence for over 50 years.

3) WWE Universal Championship

The third most important wrestling Championship is the WWE Universal Championship and all the credit for this has to go to Roman Reigns only because in the 1140+ days as champion, he has elevated this title and he has made this championship one of the ones that the wrestlers want to win and before Roman Reigns had this historic reign, this title was nowhere near as important. Brock Lesnar also held this championship for 500+ days and Kevin Owens was the first long Universal Champion. The likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Jey Uso have tried to win this but failed.

4) AEW World Championship

The AEW World Championship is the 4th most important wrestling title in wrestling. AEW is the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world and the AEW World Championship is one of the most important Titles because the likes of Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, CM Punk, MJF have held it and MJF has been a great champion and he will face Adam Cole in front of 80,000+ fans and this title will be far more important after this show. AEW is a young company and it will only grow in stature as the years go by.

5) Impact World Championship

At number 5 is the Impact World Championship which is the World title of TNA which is now known as Impact Wrestling. This title also has a long history and some of the best Wrestlers have been TNA World Champions in the past going till now but the promotion has lost a lot of steam. The likes of Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels etc have been Impact World Champions and the company just needs to present this as the main Championship so that it can compete with the others in this list.
