Chinese team set a world record to win the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle team event at the Asian Games 2026. Meanwhile, India claimed the first Asian Games 2026 medal by clinching the silver in the same event. Hosts Japan secured the bronze medal in that event.
China always led the event from the opening series, as the country scored a total of 1904.2 points to set a world record for claiming the gold medal. Indian shooters, Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsa Vinod, fought hard but were always closely behind the Chinese team. Indian team ultimately scored 1898.0 to secure a silver medal, as Japan had the bronze medal with a score of 1897.1.
Meanwhile, Sonam Maskar (634.1) and Elavenil Valarivan (633.5) claimed third and seventh positions, respectively, in the individual markings to qualify for the individual final event. However, Vidarsa Vinod (630.4) failed to qualify for the individual final by finishing in 12th place.
Talking further about the women’s 10m air rifle team event, the Republic of Korea team (1895.8) and Vietnam team (1884.3) finished in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
