It’s been a year filled with incredible horse racing odds that bettors can back to boost their winning chances. Although these odds are great, winning hasn’t been easy because of the unpredictability of the sport.
Many punters have been misled as they try to predict the games, and we’ve seen some outstanding jockeys change the course of the race. In that case, we’ve seen some top-notch jockeys that we believe would continue taking the world by storm, and as a result, we’ve made a list.

Irad Ortiz, Jr. :
In 2022, Irad Ortiz Jr. leads the way on our list based on his current stats and performances in different races. Irad is an outstanding jockey that has the stats to back it up. In 2022, he has already had 587 starts; in those starts, he has gotten 158 wins, 115 places, and 90 shows.
His current win percentage is 27%, and he has a 62% WPS percent, making him one of, if not the best, jockeys this year.
Flavien Prat :
Coming in second place on our list of top jockeys for the year is Flavien Prat, a notable jockey that has been doing well for the past few years. Prat has had 459 starts since the turn of the year. In addition, he has won 119 of the starts, gotten 97 places, and had 61 shows.
His current stats show that he has a 26% win percentage and a 60% WPS percent, which is close to Irad in the first place.
Juan J. Hernandez :
Juan J. Hernandez is comfortably sitting in third place this year. The jockey is having a good year, despite not being one of the top five earners.
He has had 444 races this year, and as a result, he is sitting in number three with 103 wins, 84 places, and 61 shows. His current win% and WPS% are 23 and 56, respectively.
Joel Rosario :
Joel Rosario, a budding jockey with high potential and living up to the hype, is in fourth place on this list. Rosario is an impressive rider destined for greatness, and this year, he had made 414 starts, and in those starts, he has won 88, had 80 places, and gotten 56 shows.
His current win percentage puts him in third place as he currently has 21% in that category and 54% in the WPS category, which is pretty impressive.
Jose L. Ortiz :
Jose L. Ortiz comes in at number five, and even though he has had more starts, wins, places, and shows compared to Rosario, his win percentage just can’t measure up. In 571 starts, Ortiz has 116 wins, 109 places, and 79 shows.
However, his win percentage is at 20, less than Rosario’s 21%. In addition to that, he has a WPS% of 53%. But he is certainly a top jockey this year.
Dylan Davis :
Dylan Davis is in the number six spot, thanks to his incredible journey this year. Davis has had a fantastic year, with 116 wins, 96 places, and 88 shows in 591 starts. He has an impressive win% of about 20%, and his WPS percentage is now at 51%. Therefore, we expect to see more from him.
Tyler Gaffalione :
If we were ranking based on the number of starts, Tyler Gafflione would be at the top of the pile now. He has had 770 this year which is more races than any other jockey on this list.
However, his win percentage is 20%, with 153 wins, 112 places, and 113 shows. In addition, he has a WPS percentage of 49%, putting him in 7th place.
Luis Saez :
Luis Saez is sitting in number eight only because Gaffalione has better numbers. Saez has started in 719 races, won 141, got 108 places, and had 104 shows. However, his percentage so far is on par with Gaffalione as he also has 20% and 49% in Win% and WPS%, respectively.
Manuel Franco :
Manuel Franco is coming in at number nine; he has been showing improvement despite the rough start. He has consistently worked on his skills, and if he gets in more races, he might make it higher on the list.
He currently has started in 513 events, and in those starts, he has had 97 wins, 75 places, and 80 shows. As a result, he now has a 19% win rate and the same WPS percentage as Saez and Gaffalione.
Florent Geroux :
Even though Florent Geroux has only 332 starts this year, he enters our top 10 list. The great jockey now has 54 wins, 56 places, and 47 shows, putting him at a 16% win percentage and a 47% WPS%. He sure would get better as we enter more races for the year.
