Abhay Singh secured the silver medal in the men’s singles squash event at the Asian Games 2026. It is the joint-best Asian Games record for India in the men’s singles squash event.
The 18th-ranked PSA World Ranking Ng Eain Yow from Malaysia challenged the 26th-ranked Abhay Singh in the Asian Games 2026 final on Sunday (27 September). The Malaysian beat Abhay by 11-9, 11-5, and 11-5 to claim the 3-0 margin win in the final to clinch the gold medal, as the Indian secured the silver medal. Abhay managed to produce a very tight battle in the first game that ran for 22 minutes, while the Malaysian won the next two games in nine and ten minutes, respectively.
Abhay reached the semifinal after beating Arkaradet Arkarahirunya (Thailand), Ravindu Laksiri (Sri Lanka), and Ryūnosuke Tsukue (Japan), respectively. In the semifinal, he defeated Pakistan player Muhammad Ashab Irfan to confirm one of the top two medals for India.
Saurav Ghosal was the only other Indian to reach the final and won the silver in the men’s singles at the Asian Games. Apart from winning two silvers (2014 and 2022), he also recorded three bronze medals (2006, 2010, and 2018) in the Asian Games men’s singles squash event.

Who is Abhay Singh?
It was Abhay Singh’s first Asian Games singles medal, while he was previously a member of the gold-medal-winning men’s team and a bronze-medal-winning mixed doubles at the Asian Games 2022. He has one World Cup gold medal (mixed team) and one World Cup bronze medal (mixed team), along with six gold medals in Asian Squash Championships.
In 2024, Abhay was honoured with the Arjuna Award, the second-highest sporting honour of India.
