Anahat Singh created history on Sunday (27 September) with a silver medal in the women’s singles squash event at the Asian Games 2026, as it became the new best Asian Games record for India in the women’s singles squash event.
The 17th-ranked Anahat Singh faced a tough competition against the fifth-ranked Sivasangari Subramaniam from Malaysia, where the Indian lost by 11-4, 11-4, and 11-7 scorelines. The Malaysian took a total of 27 minutes to shine with the gold medal.
Meanwhile, despite the defeat in the tough final, Anahat created history with the first-ever silver medal by becoming the first-ever Indian to play in the Asian Games final in the women’s singles squash event. Previously, Dipika Pallikal (2014 and 2018) and Joshna Chinappa (2018) clinched bronze medals in the Asian Games women’s singles squash.
Anahat earlier beat Au Yeong Wai Iynn (Singapore) and Tanvi Khanna to secure a medal after qualifying for the Semifinal. Later, the Indian had a tough battle against the Japanese Watanabe Satomi, snatching an emphatic 3-2 win from 0-2 behind.
