India claimed a thumping 61-run victory against Pakistan on a tricky pitch, as R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo hosted the Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday (15 February). With this victory, India became the second team to secure a place for the Super Eight stage, after Group C team West Indies, while Pakistan are now facing the must-win game against Namibia. In fact, if Pakistan suffer a shocking defeat against Namibia on 18th February, they will be eliminated from the tournament, so Pakistan must avoid a defeat against Namibia. It means that no result (like due to rain) will also work in favour of Pakistan.
After Pakistan sent India to bat first, Indian opener Ishan Kishan scored a 27-ball 50 and stretched to 77 off 40 balls with 10 fours and three sixes. His powerful batting helped India to manage a total of 175/7 in 20 overs, which was a very strong total on the spin-favoured pitch.
In reply, only Usman Khan (44) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (23*) managed 20+ scores, as Pakistan were bundled out for only 114 runs in 18 overs.
Ishan Kishan 77 runs
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan slammed 77 runs off 40 balls.
Ishan Kishan recorded the fourth-highest score in the India vs Pakistan T20I match history.
