Jannik Sinner US Open 2025

Jannik Sinner is the favorite with oddsmakers to win the 2025 US Open.

When the 23-year-old came back from a controversial doping suspension in May, there were doubts as to whether he’d pick up form right away.

Sinner certainly got off to a good start, storming all the way to the Italian Open final only to lose to an in-form Carlos Alcaraz. After three months away from the court, though, it was a more than respectable comeback.

This was then followed up by another devastating final loss to Alcaraz, this time at Roland-Garros. It stung, and you could see it on Sinner’s face.

So, when Wimbledon came around in June, Sinner was never going to allow three straight final defeats on the bounce to happen. He beat Alcaraz convincingly (4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4) to grab his second Grand Slam title of the year, letting the tennis world know he was well and truly back. And it’s given his US Open odds a major boost.

Sinner Made US Open 2025 Favorite Following Wimbledon Victory

Sportsbooks have unsurprisingly listed Sinner as the favourite to win this year’s upcoming US Open. Any lack of sharpness following his doping suspension has clearly been shaken off and he has all the momentum in the world following an excellent display at Wimbledon, where he wiped the floor with Alcarez in the final. Tennis’ two brightest stars are once again expected to meet at the US Open as well, with the current betting odds looking like this:

↳ Jannik Sinner: 11/10

↳ Carlos Alcaraz: 2/1

↳ Novak Djokovic: 14/1

As things stand, most fans are betting on Sinner to win the US Open, as he’s the defending champion and looks back to his best following this year’s Wimbledon. Alcarez is still in with a decent shot and has won a US Open (2022) before, but this year has Sinner written all over it and he’ll be looking to continue his dominance on hard courts.

Interestingly, Novak Djokovic has been given third-place odds by most sportsbooks. The experienced Serb could potentially throw Sinner of course if the two were to cross paths, especially considering this will likely be one of Djokovic's last chances to win the elusive 25rd slam he’s been chasing. Jack Draper is also a 16/1 outsider, but you wouldn’t expect him to cause any major problems for either Sinner or Alcarez.

Will Sinner Play the Canadian Masters?

In the buildup to the 2025 US Open, the general expectation was that Sinner would indeed play the Canadian Masters. However, it’s been confirmed that the Italian will not be taking part, citing he needs time to recover and that the tournament itself is too long. Sinner will instead opt to play the Cincinnati Open, running from August 5-18 August, where both Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are also expected to make appearances. Once the Cincinnati Open wraps up, it’ll be straight into the US Open, which Sinner last won back in 2024 following a dominant display in the final against an outclassed Taylor Fritz.

Sinner Expected to Finish the Year No.1

Despite missing a total of four Masters 1000 events during his three-month-long doping suspension, Sinner managed to maintain his world No.1 spot and has since furthered the points difference between himself and Alcaraz following the recent Wimbledon final. Between now and the end of the year, Sinner is expected to hold onto the No.1 spot, which the 23-year-old will be able to secure if he grabs the upcoming US Open. This would mark another great year for Sinner, who has the world at his feet now that the doping controversy is well behind him.
