Wimbledon 2026 will start from 29th June 2026 in London. There are tennis players who want to win the coveted Men’s and Women’s Singles Titles. There are obvious contenders but as was seen at the French Open the wild cards can upset and win the Grand Slam.
Let’s look at the Contenders to win the Men’s and Women’s Singles Tiles at Wimbledon 2026
Men’s Singles
Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner had a horrible French Open as he was eliminated in the second round. He must be itching to get to London and show the world why he is the best in the world. The conditions in London will suit him better. He is the clear favourite to win and he will be angry and motivated as well. Good luck to all the Men in this tournament. With Carlos Alcaraz not being here he should win this Grand Slam.
Alexander Zverev
The French Open Champion Alexander Zverev will be full of confidence going into Wimbledon 2026. He has gotten the monkey off his back and he will play more freely. That is a dangerous sign for all the others involved. Jannik Sinner will have his toughest Opponents in this man. He is the second most likely to win the title.
Novak Djokovic
The same thing said about Jannik Sinner can be applied to the GOAT Novak Djokovic. He has been searching for the elusive 25th Grand Slam but he has been beaten. He was eliminated in the third round and he would look for a much better performance at one of his favourite courts in London. He will be eager to show the world that father time has not caught up with him. Novak Djokovic has the toughest mind in tennis and he is ready.
Women’s Singles
Aryna Sabalenka
After the loss at French Open she thought about quitting tennis altogether but Aryna Sabalenka is back at Wimbledon with a vengeance. She wants to win and assert her dominance in this tournament. She was beaten in her last 10 games back to back at the French Open. She would want to win and prove why she is the most feared tennis player in the world. She will have tough competition in the likes of Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and the returning Serena Williams.
Mirra Andreeva
The 19 year old French Open Champion has to put in this list because it would be naive not to put her in here. Nobody gave her a chance at the French Open but her and Maja Chwalinska shocked the world. She will be motivated to win Wimbledon and make a statement. Winning on clay and grass back to back is the hardest accomplishment in tennis. She would be in a league of her own if she achieves this.
Iga Swiatek
Even though Serena Williams is making a historic comeback at the age of 44 , her match fitness is yet to be seen. She will be the heavy favourite of the crowd. There is Elena Rybakina who won the 2022 edition and there is Maja Chwalinska who shocked the tennis world by going to the final of French Open. However Iga Swiatek has the resume and pedigree to be listed as the third contender to win at Wimbledon. She needs to be at her best and forget everything that has happened before and just play like a multiple times Grand Slam Champion.
