India are dominating in the second Test of the five-match away Test series against the hosts England at Birmingham. The new Indian Test captain, Shubman Gill, produced a pure classic innings, which created some new history in Test cricket.   


After England captain Ben Stokes sent India to bat first, India scored 587 runs after the dominating batting performance of the Indian captain Shubman Gill. While the Indian Test captain got many solid supports from the other end, the right-handed no.4 batter scored 269 runs in 387 balls with the help of 30 fours and three sixes.

  • While Gill scored 269 runs at the age of 25 years and 298 days, he became the third youngest Test captain to record a double century. Former South African captain Graeme Smith holds the top two records with the ages of 22 years and 175 days (277 vs England in the 2003 Birmingham Test) and 22 years and 181 days (259 vs England in the 2003 Lord’s Test).
