England vs India 2025 (ENG vs IND): Yashasvi Jaiswal Starts First English Tour With Historic Century

Visitors India made a strong start in the 2025 England tour, which also starts their journey in the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship, as India already put a strong first innings total at the end of the opening day of the five-match Test series at Headingley in Leeds, thanks to two centuries and other strong batting performances.  


After England captain Ben Stokes chose to field first, India ended the opening day of the Leeds Test at 359/3. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 101 runs, while the new Indian Test skipper Shubman Gill has scored 127 not out. Also, the opener KL Rahul scored 42 runs, and the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, the new Test vice-captain, is not out on 65 runs. 


Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul provided a strong start for the visitors with a 91-run partnership, and later, Jaiswal had a 129-run partnership with the new Test captain Shubman Gill for the third wicket. After completing his fifty runs in 96 balls in the early second session, Jaiswal completed his century in that same session in 144 balls. 


The Indian left-handed opening batter Jaiswal scored 101 off 159 balls with the help of 16 fours and one six.
