Joe Root lifts new heights with another Test century
English legend Joe Root scored 104 runs in the first innings of the Test match.
It was Root’s 37th Test century, as he became the fifth most centurion in Test cricket history. The top four most Test centurions are Indian Sachin Tendulkar (51 Test centuries), South African Jacques Kallis (45 Test centuries), Australian Ricky Ponting (41 Test centuries), and Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara (38 Test centuries).
It was the 11th Test century for Root against India, as he became the joint leading Test centurion against India. Australian Steven Smith has also hit 11 Test centuries against India.
Jasprit Bumrah another golden five-wicket haul
Indian right-arm fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had the bowling figures of 27-5-74-5 during the first innings of the Lord's Test match.
It was Bumrah’s 13th Test fifer, as he set up a new record for most Test fifers by an Indian outside India. The previous record was 12 Test fifers by Kapil Dev.
It was the second Test five-wicket haul for Bumrah in this Test series. He became the fifth Indian bowler to record two five-wicket hauls in a bilateral Test series in England. Previously, Lala Amarnath (1946), Surendranath (1959), Chetan Sharma (1986), and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2014) recorded fifers twice in a single Test series in England.
With his fifth Test fifer against England, Bumrah recorded the third most Test five-wicket haul by an Indian against England. The record is eight Test fifers against England by Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhagwath Chandrasekhar.
Joe Root catches like no other in Test cricket
With one catch in the match by dismissing Karun Nair during India’s first innings, English legend Joe Root has taken 211 catches in Test cricket.
Root becomes the new record holder of most catches by a non-wicketkeeper in Test cricket history. The previous record holder was legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, who grabbed 210 Test catches.
Opener KL Rahul scored another historic Test century
Indian opener KL Rahul scored 100 runs during India’s first innings of the Test match.
It was Rahul’s second Test century at Lord’s in London. He became the second Indian to record multiple Test hundreds at Lord’s. Dilip Vengsarkar was the first in this record with three Test centuries at Lord’s.
It was Rahul’s fifth Test hundred as an opener against England. With this latest century, Rahul set a new record for most Test centuries against England as an Indian opener. The previous record was four Test centuries against England by the Indian openers Sunil Gavaskar and Rohit Sharma.

England and India both were all out for 387 runs in their first innings of the Test match, as there was no lead for either team at the end of the second innings of the Test match.
It was the only ninth time that the second innings of a Test match ended with no lead for either team (lead by 0 runs).
A dozen of bowled dismissals record for England
In the entire Test match, a total of 12 English batters were bowled.
It is the new record for the most number of bowled dismissals for England in a home Test match, and their previous poor record was 11 times during the 1882 The Oval Test against Australia.
It is the record for India with the most bowled dismissals to the opponent in a Test match. Their previous best achievement was 10 bowled dismissals to England during the 2024 Hyderabad Test.
Dependable Ravindra Jadeja unstoppable with 50+ scores in this England tour
Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja scored two half-centuries in the Test match (72 and 61 not out).
With four consecutive half-centuries in this tour, Ravindra Jadeja became the third Indian to record four consecutive 50+ scores in England, while Sourav Ganguly (2002) and Rishabh Pant (between 2022 and 2025) previously recorded it once each.
Hardly seen too many bowled dismissals in a Test match
