Key Takeaways:

Yashasvi Jaiswal's remarkable performance in the 2024 Rajkot Test saw him equal the Test cricket record for most sixes in an innings, hitting 12 sixes against England. This achievement places him alongside Wasim Akram, making him the first Indian to accomplish this feat.

During the third innings of the 2024 Rajkot Test against England, the 22-year-old Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal equalled the Test cricket record of most sixes in a Test innings with 12 smashing over boundaries.

It was only the 13th Test innings for Yashasvi Jaiswal, where the young left-handed batter scored his third Test century as well as his second Test double hundred. Jaiswal managed his highest Test innings score by smashing 214 not out in 236 balls with the help of 14 fours and 12 sixes.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Joint most sixes in a Test innings

With 12 sixes, Jaiswal equalled the record of most sixes in a Test innings, as the former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram was previously holding the record lonely with 12 over boundaries. During the second innings of the 1996 Sheikhupura Test against Zimbabwe, Akram smashed 12 sixes during his knock of 257 not out.

While Jaiswal equalled the record of most sixes in a Test innings with 12 sixes, one more six would set up a new Test cricket world record. However, India’s declaration on 430/4 denied Jaiswal’s golden opportunity to break the Test cricket world record.
