This has become a hot topic of conversation ever since England have started playing test cricket like it is an extension of the ODI and T20I formats of the sport. They have revolutionized the way we watch and the teams play test cricket. They have made it more exciting to watch and the fans go to the stadiums to watch them bat and get entertained. So, as an Indian cricket fan , I am asking the question whether the Indian team should also play more aggressive in test cricket.
Before we tackle that question I want you to say that the original way of playing test cricket is still very useful and effective and it tests the batters and Bowlers but this new style that England are bringing to the table is way more exciting and it will preserve test cricket and even help it grow amongst the younger fans. So, let’s talk about this question.
Yes, India should play more aggressive cricket in test matches
I have a few good reasons to say this and the first one is because Team India has some of the best players in the world and they can Score runs against any opposition and if they want they can play attacking cricket as well in tests. The team will benefit greatly as there will be more time in the test match to get a result out of the games and to take 20 Wickets in a test match. And the confidence of the batters will also be very high and they will enjoy playing test cricket.
The second reason is the fans. We see full houses in the stadiums for all the ODI and T20I matches and Team India play aggressive cricket and the fans love to watch it. Imagine if India play in the same manner in test cricket then the crowds will come in large numbers to watch test cricket as well and it will be so good to see full houses for all 5 days of a test match like it happens in England. The fans are the heart of the game and if the fans are entertained then everything will be great.
The third reason is that whenever India play away from home then this formula will come in handy to counter the swing and bounce the pitches might have and if India play in an aggressive way then the Bowlers will forget their line and lengths and they will Bowl where the batter wants to bowl and thus lots of runs can be scored and thus an overseas win is in the cards everytime India plays.
