In his second over of the innings, he dismissed Justin Greaves (caught by Beau Webster), Shamar Joseph (lbw), and Jomel Warrican (bowled) in three successive deliveries to complete his first hat-trick in international cricket.
Boland became the 10th Australian bowler to record a Test hat-trick.
