English captain Nat Sciver-Brunt created history during the 12th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 last Saturday (October 11), when they faced the hosts Sri Lanka Women at Colombo (RPS).
After Sri Lanka Women chose to field first, England Women scored 253/9 in 50 overs, mainly thanks to the English skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt. She scored a 110-ball century as she scored 117 runs in 117 balls with nine fours and two sixes. In reply, Sri Lanka Women were all out for 164 runs in 45.4 overs, as England Women won by 89 runs.
During that match, Nat Sciver-Brunt created some historic records, which are as follows:
Nat Sciver-Brunt scored her fifth century in the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
It is the new record for most centuries in the Women’s Cricket World Cup history. The previous record was four centuries, which now three players hold. These three names are Janette Brittin (England Women), Charlotte Edwards (England Women), and Suzie Bates (New Zealand Women).

It is the highest score by an English captain in the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. The previous record was 114 by Rachael Heyhoe-Flint vs Young England Women at Ilford in 1973.
It was the fourth-highest score by a captain in the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. The top three records in this list are Australia Women’s Belinda Clark (229* vs Denmark Women in 1997), and Meg Lanning twice (152* vs Sri Lanka Women in 2017 and 135* vs South Africa Women in 2022).
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt recorded 117 runs and also had the bowling figures of 5-0-25-2.
It was the fifth time that a player recorded a century and at least two wickets in a match in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Nat Sciver-Brunt became the first player to record a century and at least two wickets in the same match more than once in the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. She previously recorded 109 not out and 2 for 68 against Australia Women in 2022.
Nat Sciver-Brunt became the second captain to record a century and at least one wicket in the same match in the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Former England Women skipper Rachael Heyhoe-Flint recorded it first time with her 114 runs and 1/13 against Young England Women in 1973.
