Indian opener Smriti Mandhana played one of the memorable knocks on Thursday (October 23), when the hosts India Women faced New Zealand Women in the must-win league stage game of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 at Navi Mumbai.
After New Zealand Women sent India Women to bat first, the hosts managed to score 340/3 in 49 overs. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal set up the 212-run partnership for the first wicket, while both the openers slammed centuries. Smriti Mandhana scored an 88-ball century, and Pratika Rawal scored a 122-ball hundred.
Mandhana scored 109 runs off 95 balls with the help of 10 fours and four sixes. Also, Rawal scored 122 off 134 balls with 13 fours and two sixes. Later, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 76 not out off 55 balls with 11 fours.
In the rain-interrupted game, while New Zealand Women had a revised target of 325 runs in 44 overs, India Women restricted the White Ferns for 271/8 in 44 overs and claimed a 53-run win (DLS method) to secure the only remaining spot for the semi-finals of the tournament.

After South African cricketer Tazmin Brits became the first cricketer to record five WODI centuries in the calendar year by recording a hundred against New Zealand in this tournament, Smriti equalled the record of most WODI centuries in a calendar year.
