Most Shocking Unsold Players WPL Mega Auction 2026

This is the norm in all auctions that happen at the WPL or the IPL. There will be a list where some players who should have found teams to play in will be without a team in the upcoming WPL season. These are the most shocking unsold players and the fans could not believe that none of the teams bid for them. There is one name in this list that should have been one of the most expensive buys.

Let’s look at the 5 Most Shocking Unsold Players at WPL Mega Auction 2026

1) Alyssa Healy

There is absolutely no doubt that Alyssa Healy is the most shocking unsold player at the WPL Mega Auction. She was in the marquee set and the first name was out of the bag. No one of the 5 teams went for her and that shocked everyone. She is a 6 time T20I World Cup Champion and a 2 time ODI World Cup winner. Alyssa Healy is one of the all time greats and UP Warriorz should have bid for her. She led Australia to the semi final of the recently concluded World Cup. She was the captain of UP Warriorz in the first 3 seasons.

2) Alana King

The second best spinner in the world and the best leg spinner in the world Alana King could not find a team in the WPL Mega Auction. Alana King was brought twice in the Auction but not one team bid for her. This was shocking as teams could have used her. She is a wicket taking bowler. A team like Gujarat Giants should have bid for her. Alana King not playing in the WPL is a loss for the league itself. She could have helped young Indian Bowlers.

3) Chamari Athapaththu

Chamari Athapaththu not finding a team in the WPL is a disgrace. She is one of the best batters in the world. She has consistently bailed out Sri Lanka in pressure situations and she was a part of the UP Warriorz last season. Chamari Athapaththu should have been given the chance by a team like Delhi Capitals who need an opening partner. She is known for hitting hundreds and she could have been the anchor in the innings around which all the other players hit fours and sixes.

4) S Meghana

This Indian all rounder not being sold despite being called out twice in the auction is surprising. S Meghana was in Gujarat Giants and they could have used the RTM Card for her. S Meghana is a player that can bat anywhere in the middle order and she can also bowl useful overs. She could have lowered her base price and a team could have bid for her. She will want to work here so that she can find a team in the mini auction next year as teams would need a quality Indian option.

5) Uma Chetry

She was one of the youngest players that was in the Mega Auction. She was a young Indian wicket Keeper batter and that is a skill that is not found easily in Indian cricket. She was a prospect that a team like UP Warriorz could have bid for and built her under the guidance of Meg Lanning. The betterment of Indian cricket should be an important goal for all 5 teams. Uma Chetry will find a buyer in the 2027 mini auction. She has to set her base price at 30 lakhs instead of 50 lakhs.
