Chelsea Green Beat Nia Jax on WWE SmackDown
This was the second big title match that took place at SmackDown In Mexico City. It was between Chelsea Green and Nia Jax. Nia Jax earned this shot by beating Tiffany Stratton last week. This was the first defence that Chelsea Green had ever had since winning the title. The fans are firmly in the corner of the champion, and she has become the biggest female babyface. Her story of being the underdog resonates with everyone, and therefore her opponents are booed out of the building. This was going to be a mismatch for most of the running time because Nia Jax was way more powerful than Chelsea Green.
The 12,000-strong Mexico City crowd were cheering Chelsea Green, and they rallied her into the match. Chelsea Green having good matches will ensure that she has a long title reign because this might be the only time that she gets to be the World Champion. In the closing moments of the match, Nia Jax was going for her finish, but then the interferences started as first Lash Legend came out to help her friend and then Tiffany Stratton came out to a huge pop, and she evened the odds. Nia Jax got distracted, and she couldn’t Hit her finisher, and Chelsea Green took advantage and pinned her clean. This was a huge win for Chelsea Green, as now she has been solidified as the only WWE Women’s Champion.
Going forward it can be expected that Tiffany Stratton will turn heel on Chelsea Green because there is a storyline there that can be made into gold. Tiffany Stratton betraying her friend and going for the title. WWE can build to this match, and in the meantime, Chelsea Green can defend her title at the Money in the Bank PPV, and then she will face the champion from Raw at WWE Crown Jewel. The Road to Survivor Series will be important for her and for the Women’s division on WWE SmackDown.
