CM Punk vs Roman Reigns has had 6 weeks worth of build and so it will be a good time to analyse the build so far and look ahead to the next 4 weeks and what they can do to increase the hype for their match. They are looking to main event WrestleMania 42 Night 2 but with the recent heel turn by Randy Orton, it could prove challenging. WrestleMania 42 will take place on 18th and 19th April 2026. WWE has done the right thing by not completely turning either one of these men heel.

It has been 6 weeks since the build to CM Punk vs Roman Reigns has been happening for WrestleMania 42. Ever since Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble and the next night he chose CM Punk the build started. CM Punk faced Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber but still he was taking jabs at Roman Reigns. Now 4 more weeks are left and it is a good time to look back and look ahead. The promos that these two men have had so far have been great and they have furthered the storyline between these two men. Roman Reigns won the first promo battle when he said that he hates CM Punk and that is the reason he is choosing him to face at WrestleMania. That set up this feud for WrestleMania 42. CM Punk then was in a mini feud against Finn Balor and Roman Reigns was out for a few weeks. After the Elimination Chamber CM Punk and Roman Reigns had another promo battle.
This time it was more even as both men tried to play mind games with the other. Roman Reigns said that Phil was not going to be champion for long and CM Punk poked fun at Roman Reigns for being a part timer. The last word in this promo battle was by CM Punk who said that he will bury Roman Reigns next to his father. The following week The Usos stepped up and they demanded an apology but CM Punk doubled down on the cousins and got a pair of Superkicks for his mouth. Then there was Raw last night which was the 3rd promo battle between these two. Roman Reigns said that AJ Lee was the attraction of CM Punk’s family. And the parting shot this time was told by Roman Reigns as he said that CM Punk was old. This was too much and Punk hit Roman Reigns with the microphone which resulted in a smile from Roman Reigns.
There are 4 more weeks of storytelling left. There can be no more promo battles until the last week before WrestleMania. There needs to be physicality and Roman Reigns and CM Punk need to hit each other with their finisher on alternate weeks. There needs to be a pull apart brawl which would result in all the locker rooms coming and cleaning up. The fans need to see that both men hate each other and are ready to hurt each other. They now have Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton to compete with for the Night 2 Main Event as with Randy Orton turning heel that feud has got new legs. It will be a good competition between the 4 biggest stars in WWE to see which match gets to close out WrestleMania 42. The fans will be the ultimate winners.
