Edge vs John Cena at WrestleMania 40

As was talked about in a previous article, that WrestleMania 40 has already broken the all time gate record for WWE and has sold close to 100,000 tickets already for both nights so the WWE should take advantage of this opportunity and announce a WrestleMania Match for the ages. Edge and John Cena are at their last stages of their WWE careers and they have Hollywood waiting for them so there can be no better way than having this match which will also be the culmination of 2 all time careers

Let’s look at how to get there and the importance of the match

Edge had his last match in his current WWE contract in his 25th anniversary episode of SmackDown against Sheamus. It was an unbelievable match that lasted 20 minutes and Edge was looking in the best of form and was wrestling as better as he has ever been. Sheamus pushed Edge to the limit and they threw everything at each other. Edge showed that he can get physical and he won the match after hitting a couple of Spears. Edge has to make a decision as to if he will retire from Wrestling or sign a new contract with WWE or AEW. It is highly unlikely that Edge will go to AEW looking at how great the WWE have treated him these last 3 years.

He himself said that he does not have a full year left in him so the WWE fans want to see just 1 more match from him and it should be at WrestleMania 40. His all time greatest rival has been John Cena and therefore there cannot be another way for Edge to finish his wrestling career. John Cena is also nearing the end of his legendary WWE career because Hollywood has a big place for him and he should also have his last match against one of his best rivals ever. This time there will be no heel, just 2 men who have done it all and have all the respect in the world for each other. It should be a double retirement match meaning after this match both Edge and John Cena must have no other wrestling Matches like Ric Flair did after WrestleMania 24.

Edge has been in WWE for 25 years and John Cena has been in WWE for 21 years and both have won everything there is to win in WWE. Edge is an 11 time World Champion, a multiple time tag team champion, United States Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Money in the Bank winner, 2 time Royal Rumble winner, WrestleMania main eventer. And John Cena is a 16 time World Champion, 6 time United States Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Money in the Bank winner, 2 time Royal Rumble winner and multiple time WrestleMania main eventer. Edge is a WWE Hall of Famer and John Cena will be a first ballot WWE Hall of Famer and will headline his own class. And by announcing this match WWE will get a sold out WrestleMania 40 for both nights with just 1 Match being announced.
