The Royal Rumble has always been one of the Big 4 PPVs that WWE has had over the last 40 years. Royal Rumble 2025 – 70,347
This is easily the highest attended Royal Rumble PPV of all time. This Royal Rumble PPV was held in an NFL Stadium and it was sold out. More than 70,000 fans attended the show in Indianapolis and this show had more attendance than either of the nights at WrestleMania 42 and SummerSlam last year. This was the last Royal Rumble in the career of John Cena. Jey Uso won the Men’s Royal Rumble and Charlotte Flair won the Women’s Royal Rumble. There was also the fantastic Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens ladder match for the WWE Championship. It will be difficult for WWE to surpass this attendance record.
Royal Rumble 1997 – 60,477
This Royal Rumble held the record for the Highest Attended Royal Rumble PPV of all time for an incredible 28 years. This was the first Royal Rumble to be held in a stadium in San Antonio Texas. Stone Cold Steve Austin was in the prime of his career and he won the 1997 Royal Rumble Match. Shawn Michaels vs Sycho Sid did the WWE Championship also took place. The Undertaker vs Vader happened at this Royal Rumble PPV.
Royal Rumble 2024 – 52,735
The Royal Rumble for 2024 was also one of the highest Attended Royal Rumble PPVs of all time. This was the time that WWE was at its peak in the current era. Cody Rhodes won his second consecutive Royal Rumble Match and Bayley won the Women’s Royal Rumble Match for the first time. A Fatal Four Way Match between Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton vs LA Knight vs AJ Styles happened at this Royal Rumble. This was one of the better Royal Rumble shows in the last 10 years. Following this Royal Rumble, WWE created history at WrestleMania 40.
Royal Rumble 2023 – 51,338
This is the third Royal Rumble PPV in this list which has taken place in the last 4 years. Royal Rumble 2023 is probably the most memorable Royal Rumble PPV of the last 5 years. The build-up to this PPV was absolutely masterful. Cody Rhodes won his first ever Royal Rumble and so did Rhea Ripley. In the main event it was Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship. After the match Sami Zayn hit Roman Reigns with the chair to his back which generated such a loud pop that the stadium was shaking.
Royal Rumble 2019 – 48,193
This is the 5th highest Attended Royal Rumble PPV of all time. This was the year where WWE did exactly what the fans wanted. Seth Rollins won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match and Becky Lynch won the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. Brock Lesnar took on Finn Balor for the WWE Universal Championship and Ronda Rousey took on Sasha Banks for the Women’s Championship in a Banger match. AJ Styles faced Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship in an unbelievable match.
