NXT Battleground is the first NXT PPV after WrestleMania 41 weekend. This will be the first show in the new era of NXT. This show will take place on 25th May 2025 in Tampa FL. There will be 5 Matches at this show. On the same day there will be AEW Double or Nothing. Therefore it will be a competition to see which is the better show.
Let’s look at the Match Card for NXT Battleground 2025
Oba Femi vs Myles Bourne for NXT Championship
Oba Femi has been the dominant champion in NXT. He has his next challenger In Myles Bourne. He earned this title opportunity by winning a battle royal. This may look like a mismatch but Myles Bourne is one of the best young wrestlers. He has power that can match Oba Femi. Oba Femi will look at this as any other match. Myles Bourne has an opportunity to cement his place in WWE for years to come. This match should last 20+ minutes.
Stephanie Vaquer vs Jordynne Grace for NXT Women’s Championship
This is easily the most anticipated match at this show. These are two of the best in the world and they have won multiple titles in their career. This match will be a strength off as both these women are powerful and they dominate their opponents. Stephanie Vaquer is the gold standard in NXT and now that Roxanne Perez and Giulia are on the main roster, she is the face of NXT. Jordynne Grace has come from TNA and she will want to win the NXT Women’s title. This has the potential to be the best women’s match of the weekend. A 25 minute match is what these two women deserve to have an instant classic.
Joe Hendry vs Trick Williams for TNA Championship
This will be one of those rare occasions where a title from another promotion will be defended at a WWE show. This match has gotten personal as both men have been at each other’s shows and taken each other out. This match will be the biggest TNA World Championship defence for Joe Hendry. Trick Williams is used to winning championships as he is a former 2 time NXT Champion. He would love to add the TNA World Championship to his resume. This is also one of the main matches at NXT Battleground.
Tony D’Angelo vs Channing Lorenzo
This is the only non title match at this show. It will be a family at war. It will be Tony D vs Channing Lorenzo. Channing Lorenzo turned on his mentor at NXT Stand and Deliver. He wanted to have his own career path. Tony D felt betrayed and he wants revenge. This match will be unseen by most of the fans where there are other big title matches. These two have the chance to make an impression and make the wrestling world talk about them. For this to happen they will need at least 15 minutes to have a barn burner.
Sol Ruca vs Kelani Jordan for NXT Women’s North American Championship
This will be the second match on the show. Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan are friends. Kelani Jordan was the first Women’s NXT North American Champion. Sol Ruca won the title in a ladder match at NXT Stand and Deliver. Both these women are the future of WWE for years to come. This match will be good as both women know each other very well and they will make the NXT management give them bigger spots in the future. Sol Ruca is easily the most athletic woman in WWE and Kelani Jordan is a woman that just does not give up. This could be a sleeper hit of a match.
