WWE held their Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta on 6th September. WWE usually holds these shows on a Saturday; however, this was the first time in years they held this on a Sunday. There were a total of 5 Matches on the main card of the show.
Storylines were progressing, but Triple H needs to work very hard to restore WWE to its glory days of WrestleMania 40.
Let’s look at the Results for Sunday Night’s Main Event, Atlanta.
Lil Yachty beat Baron Corbin in a Beat The Clock Match
This was the most unique match on the show. This was the first match on the card, as it was Lil Yachty vs Baron Corbin. Lil Yachty had to survive for 5 minutes, following which he would win the match. Baron threw Lil Yachty on the steel steps, and the entourage of Lil Yachty tried to interfere, but they were taken out. Lil Yachty beat Baron Corbin with a kendo stick, and Baron Corbin gave Deep Six and End of Days to the entourage of Lil Yachty.
Baron hit an End of Days to Lil Yachty and was about to pin him when Lil Yachty hit a low blow to survive 5 minutes. This win meant that Trick Williams would get a rematch for the United States Championship.
Trick Williams beat Baron Corbin for United States Championship
This was the first title match of the show. This was a 12 minute proper wrestling match. Trick Williams attacked Baron Corbin early, as he had already wrestled for 5 minutes and had suffered a low blow. Baron Corbin took control of the match, and he attacked Trick Williams with clotheslines, and he applied a Half Nelson submission. The match went into a new gear as Trick Williams made his comeback with kicks to the face, and he also hit a Cyclone Boot, but Baron Corbin answered it with a Deep Six and a Chokeslam for a close 2-count.
Baron tried to use the United States Championship to hit Trick Williams, but Lil Yachty created a distraction. Baron hit Trick Williams with the title, but the babyface kicked out. Baron was looking to hit End of Days but was hit with a trick shot, and a new United States Champion was crowned.
Oba Femi beat Bron Breakker by DQ
This was the match that the fans who came to watch Sunday Night’s the best in Atlanta wanted to see. It was the battle for the future of WWE. This was a 14-minute match which was exciting. Both men tried to hit each other with shoulder tackles, but neither moved. The crowd was building in excitement. Oba took early control of the match and sent Bron Breakker to the outside. There Oba Femi was throwing around Bron Breakker. Bron came back, and he pushed Oba Femi over the announce table. Bron controlled the middle part of the match by hitting German Suplexes and Clotheslines, but that was not enough to keep Oba Femi down.
He made a comeback by hitting a number of Uppercuts to Bron Breakker. Oba hit the Chokeslam but got a close 2-count. Austin Theory tried to interfere but was knocked on top of the announce table. Bron hit 2 Spears to Oba Femi, but Oba kicked out. Bron took out Logan Paul and was going for his finisher, then Bronson Reed hit him with a steel chair, and the match was over.
Jade Cargill, Michin and B Fab beat Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley
This was the only women’s match on the card, which was disappointing. The match was 20 minutes long. Tatum Paxley made a strong impression first when she countered a double-team move and hit B Fab with an enzuigiri. Jade took control of the match and isolated Tatum Paxley. Alexa Bliss got the hot tag, and she was about to hit Sister Abigail on B Fab, but the heels took over the match once again.
The best part of the match was Charlotte Flair because she hit chops to all 3 women, then German Suplexes followed by clothesline and a double moon sault. The fans were cheering her. Jade pinned Charlotte Flair to win the match for the heels.
Randy Orton beat Cody Rhodes
Both men could not wait to get their hands on each other, and the action started on the ringside as Randy Orton ambushed Cody Rhodes. As the match started, Cody Rhodes hit a Cody Cutter and applied the Figure Four submission, but Randy got out. Randy then took control of this 19-minute match. He submits a Superplex from the top rope. Cody Rhodes made a comeback as he hit a Disaster Kick and a Bionic Elbow. Randy Orton was about to hit the RKO, but Cody got out. The ending of the match was chaotic.
The first referee was down. Randy Orton was cut open, and Cody Rhodes took advantage and hit 2 Cross Rhodes and a Super Cody Cutter. He hesitated giving the punt. A second referee came out, and Randy Orton gave a low blow followed by the RKO to win the match. This is not the end of their feud.
