He placed third in the 2016 NBA Rookie of the Year Award voting and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team at the end of the season. He finished second in the 2017 NBA Most Improved Player Award voting as well as the 2017 Assist of the Year voting at the end of the 2016/17 season.


Jokic signed a five-year, $148 million contract deal with the Nuggets on July 9, 2018. Jokic received the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for his regular-season performance, becoming the first centre to do so since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000, as well as the first player in Denver Nuggets team history.
