In the latest series of articles about the profile articles of Commonwealth Games we will talk about one of the most decorated boxers in the Indian contingent which is Amit Panghal. He has won glory for India at the world stage but lately his form has not been up to his standards and he will be looking to win another medal at these Commonwealth Games to once again make India proud and give himself the confidence that he still has it. He is one of the fastest boxers and he will look to use his swiftness to checkmate his opponents.

Amit Panghal became a national hero when he won all those medals in 2018 and 19 age since then he has under performed in the Tokyo Olympics last year where he was knocked out in the first round itself and he would be looking to prepare for the Paris Olympics in style at these Games and try to win a Gold for India. Amit Panghal was born on 16th October 1995 in Rohtak Haryana which is a town famous for great boxers and Wrestlers over the years and Amit was inspired by all of them especially Vijender Singh who won the Bronze Medal at the 2008 Olympics and he also wanted to win Medals at the global stage for India. He is 52 Kg in weight and he boxes in the Flyweight category. Amit Panghal is just 26 years old and he has a good 9 years of boxing in him and so he could do a lot of things before he retires.


Career


Amit Panghal started his boxing career in 2016 and in that year itself he won the Gold Medal in the national boxing championship and from there he was fast tracked inti success and given the proper training. 2018 was a great year in the career of Amit Panghal as we will talk about below in how achievements but in that year he made India proud multiple times but his crowning moment came in the year 2019 when he won a medal at the World Boxing Championship and after that his downfall started and in 2022 he would look to get his career back on track.

Since this is the event we are focussing on now Amit Panghal has a great history at this event in his first Commonwealth Games in 2018 and he would be looking to repeat his performance from Gold Coast in 2018 or maybe get one better than he did the last time. We will be cheering him on like the other athletes.
