India vs South Africa - 24th February, 2010- Gwalior


This match is special to all Indian cricket fans for one and one reason only and that is Sachin Tendulkar and the extraordinary achievement that he did in this match. He became the first batter in men’s ODI cricket to hit a double hundred in a 50 overs match. It was an amazing display of batsmanship from the Greatest to ever do it as he pulverized the great South Africa bowling attack at that time consisting of Dale Steyn and the others. He paced his innings perfectly and during the last moments of the Indian innings he achieved the till now unachievable and again made history.


India vs South Africa - ICC Champions Trophy 2002 Semi Final


This match was a thriller and both these teams showed that day why they were in this knockout match and showed Their skills for the world to see. Batting first India for off to a great start but they lost few wickets in between ,however fifties from Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh helped India post a very competitive score of 262. South Africa got off to the worst start possible but the greatest of Jacques Kallis and Herschelle Gibbs rescued South Africa with a 178 run stand but in the end India kept their nerve and won the match by just 10 Runs and booked a place in the final.


India vs South Africa - 22nd October 2015, Chennai


This match saw the greatness of two of the best players of this generation. The Chennai crowd that day was electric and the atmosphere was amazing. In the first innings, Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 138 runs and helped India reach a very respectable total and Suresh Raina also contributed with the bat. In the second innings it was the turn of AB De Villiers to come to the party as he hit a blazing century in just 98 balls but it wasn’t enough as India won the match by 35 runs. This was an arrival of sorts for Virat Kohli into the very elite of the game.


India vs South Africa - Hero Cup Semi Final 1993, Kolkata


This match is perhaps one of the most famous India vs South Africa ODI matches ever and it happened at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Batting first India could only make 195 runs in 50 overs with Mohammad Azharuddin scoring 90 runs. It looked all lost but the Indian bowlers bounced back in style and South Africa needed six runs off the last over and a young Sachin Tendulkar asked the captain to give him the ball and he bowled the over of his life and gave only 3 runs in the final over to secure India a famous win.


India vs South Africa - World Cup Group Match 2011, Nagpur


Indian fans would not want to remember this match but this was another classic match in this great rivalry between these two nations. In this match South Africa batted first and made a formidable score of 300 in their 50 overs and it was going to be a tough chase byr as always Sachin Tendulkar stepped up and scored an amazing hundred and Sehwag scored a fast 73 but wickets kept falling at regular intervals and in the end South Africa won the match by just 4 runs and it was a heartbreaking loss for India.
