10. Dinesh Karthik

Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik was one of India's popular white-ball cricketers, who also shined in the IPL. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 4842 runs in 257 IPL matches with an average of 26.31 and a strike rate of 135.36. The right-handed batter recorded 22 IPL half-centuries as he was famous for his finishing role. 


9. Robbin Uthappa

Former Indian cricketer Robbin Uthappa was another great name in the IPL. The right-handed batter recorded 4952 runs in 205 IPL matches with an average of 27.51 and a strike rate of 130.35. He recorded 27 half-centuries in the IPL. He was a strong T20 batter both as an opener and middle-order. He was also an occasional wicketkeeper. 


8. Chris Gayle

The West Indies Giant and incredible batter Chris Gayle was the monster in T20 cricket. While he achieved huge success in every format, the left-handed batter holds the record for most T20 centuries. Gayle once held the record for most IPL centuries by recording it six times. He scored 4965 runs in 142 IPL matches with an average of 39.72 and a strike rate of 148.96, including six hundreds and 31 half-centuries. Apart from holding the record highest score in the IPL as well as T20 cricket history, 175 not out, Gayle is still the only IPL batter with 350+ sixes.  


7. AB de Villiers

The former South African explosive batter AB de Villiers was one of the greatest batters of his generation. Due to his ability to score runs in every position of the field, he was known as the Mr. 360. The right-handed batter was a nightmare for every bowler as he could move the scoreboard very quickly with his big hits. After playing 184 IPL matches, he scored 5162 runs, including three centuries and 40 half-centuries. The right-handed batter had an IPL batting average of 39.70 and a strike rate of 151.68.


6. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni, the legendary successful Indian captain, is a legend in the IPL as he led Chennai Super Kings to win the IPL trophy five times. The wicketkeeper-batter is known as one of the greatest finishers ever in cricket history as the right-handed batter majorly plays the successful finisher role. He has scored 5243 runs in 264 IPL matches (229 innings). His IPL batting average is 39.12 and his strike rate is 137.53. He has recorded 24 IPL half-centuries, while he is one of the prolific six hitters. 


5. Suresh Raina

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina was the previous record holder for most runs in the IPL history. The left-handed batter scored 5528 runs in 205 IPL matches as he was one of the greatest middle-order batters in Indian white-ball cricket history. Raina recorded one century and 39 half-centuries in the IPL, where his batting average was 32.51 and his strike rate was 136.73. 


4. David Warner

Former Australian cricketer David Warner holds the record for most IPL runs as an overseas batter. The Southpaw was a dangerous opening batter who loved to deal with boundaries that moved the scoreboard quickly and put huge pressure on any bowling line-up. With the help of four centuries and 62 half-centuries, Warner recorded 6565 runs in 184 IPL matches with an incredible average of 40.52 and a strike rate of 139.77. 


3. Rohit Sharma

The 2024 T20 World Cup-winning Indian captain Rohit Sharma isn't only one of the most successful IPL captains with five IPL trophies as a Mumbai Indians captain but also one of the greatest Indian batters, especially in the white-ball format. He not only holds many records in the T20I format, but he is also one of the greatest batters in IPL history. The right-handed batter, majorly known as an aggressive opener, has scored 6628 runs in 257 IPL matches with an average of 29.72 and a strike rate of 131.14. Rohit has recorded two centuries and 43 half-centuries in his long IPL career. 


2. Shikhar Dhawan

Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is in second place in the list of most IPL runs till IPL 2024. The left-handed batter was a fearless aggressive opener whose powerful batting only gave confidence to his team. He scored 6769 runs in 222 IPL matches with an average of 35.25 and a strike rate of 127.14. Dhawan recorded two centuries and 51 half-centuries in his IPL career.

Former Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore (presently known as Royal Challengers Bengaluru) captain Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batters in cricket history. His skillful batting forces cricket fans to sit tight in their seats. Kohli is equally well at rotating the strikes along with boundaries. He is the only IPL batter with 8000+ runs as he has scored 8004 runs in 252 IPL till the IPL 2024. His IPL batting average is 38.66 and his strike rate is 131.97. He has recorded eight IPL centuries and 55 IPL half-centuries, the most IPL centuries and second most 50+ IPL scores.
