Novak Djokovic is a right-handed tennis player who hails from the country of Serbia. He is one of the most popular tennis players of all time and is currently ranked as the world number 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Since the beginning of his career in 2003, the Serbian has had many accomplishments in the game and went on to share two great rivalries with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. And the 'Big Three' has dominated the game continuously for the past 15 years. He has a record of 17-0 in 2020 and has not faced a defeat just yet in the year.

Personal life:

Novak Djokovic was born on 22nd May 1987 in Belgrade, Serbia, and was raised along with two brothers by Srdan Djokovic and Dijana Djokovic. He started playing tennis at an early age of four years. He was married to Jelena Djokovic in 2014 and they are parents to Stefan Djokovic and Tara Djokovic. He was sent to Germany for four years to train under Nikola Pilic. Even after turning professional in 2003, he participated in his first Grand Slam in 2005, when he qualified for the Australian Open.

Career:

Making his grand slam debut in 2005, he performed well at Wimbledon and the US Open. Next year, he won his first ATP title at the Dutch Open and broke into the top 40 of the world rankings. In 2007, he stunned the tennis fans with a win against all the top three ranked players at the time - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Roddick - to win the Rogers Cup. In 2008, Djokovic broke into the top three with a win at the 2008 Australian Open. He also won a bronze medal in the same year. 2009 and 2010 were also successful for him before he became the world number one in 2011. That year, he won ten titles including Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. Djokovic's 2015 accomplishments contributed to what many consider as one of the greatest tennis seasons of all time. In addition to winning a bare majority of matches, Djokovic edged Nadal for the first time in the French Open to win all the four major slams that year. A season that was called a 'Nole Slam' by the fans and pundits alike.

2017 was somewhat disappointing for Djokovic, as he couldn't win a single grand slam with his two arch-rivals - Nadal and Federer - sharing the majors equally amongst them. In 2018, he changed the entire coaching staff and hired Andre Agassi as his new coach. Although he missed the majority of the season with an elbow injury, he claimed the top spot the following year and continued his dominance on the world stage. He is still undefeated in 2020.

Records:

The Serbian tennis star has amassed several records to his name. He owes nearly all the all-time records. He has 17 grand slam titles to his name including eight Australian Open titles, five Wimbledons, three US Opens and a solitary French Open in 2016. The Serbian has crossed 295 weeks at the top spot in world tennis. He also has 34 ATP Masters 1000 titles, second only to Nadal at 35.
