The United States athletes claimed the top four positions, as the 20-year-old Ja'Kobe Tharp snatched the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championship title after a thrilling men’s 110m hurdles final.
Earlier, on the opening day of the inaugural Ultimate Championship, we experienced two thrilling men’s 110m hurdles Semifinals, from where top four athletes from each Semifinal qualified for the Final. A total of five American athletes advanced to the Final.
The latest European Athletics Championships gold medalist (2026), Swiss athlete Jason Joseph, was disqualified in the Final for a false start. In the race, Tharp lately made a sharp comeback, as he was in disbelief at his title success after just edging his native Cordell Tinch out, who was confident after finishing with his season-best finish (12.95). Tharp completed his race in 12.94 seconds.
Among the other Americans, Bradley Franklin (13.01) and Trey Cunningham (13.08) finished third and fourth, respectively. While the remaining American finalist, Jamal Britt, was also disqualified just before the end of the race, Japanese Tatsuki Abe and Rachid Muratake managed fifth and sixth places, respectively.

Who is Ja'Kobe Tharp?
United States youngster Ja'Kobe Tharp has continued his dream run in his early senior career. Last week, he claimed his maiden Diamond League title by winning the season finale at the 110m hurdles after finishing in 13.03 seconds. Meanwhile, in the Ultimate Championship, he even produced a better performance to snatch the title.
