Nikola Jokic is a Serbian professional basketball player who plays centre for the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. The three-time NBA All-Star has been named to the All-NBA Team three times (two times as a first-team pick) and won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for the 2020–21 season. After averaging 8.0 points and 6.2 rebounds in five summer league games with the Nuggets, he signed a contract with the team on July 28, 2015. He placed third in the 2016 NBA Rookie of the Year Award voting and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team at the end of the season. He finished second in the 2017 NBA Most Improved Player Award voting as well as the 2017 Assist of the Year voting at the end of the 2016/17 season.


Jokic signed a five-year, $148 million contract deal with the Nuggets on July 9, 2018. Jokic received the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for his regular-season performance, becoming the first centre to do so since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000, as well as the first player in Denver Nuggets team history. He was also the first Serbian player to win the award, as well as the third European player overall and the sixth international player.
