10 Indian u-19 cricket players who started well but unluckily could not

Cricket is very popular in Asia. Almost every young kid dreams to become a cricketer and represent his nation at the global level. However, becoming a top cricket star is not everyone’s cup of tea because the process needs immense patience, dedication, and hard work.

Players like Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson are among the top names in world cricket right now. These players first played in the U-19 World Cup. However, in this listicle, we will look at those ten Indian U-19 stars who started well but could not make it big.

1. Unmukt Chand

He led India to their third U-19 Cricket World Cup. He also scored a brilliant 111 not out in the finals. Unfortunately, he could continue his form in the IPL and the domestic arena. Despite receiving multiple opportunities, Unmukt could not replicate his U19 brilliance.

2. Vijay Zol

Unfortunately, despite performing well in the two World Cups, Zol could not do well in the IPL as well as the domestic circuit. He is still young and can come back. However, his inconsistency might hurt his chances.

3. Ricky Bhui

He received very few opportunities in the IPL. And, he could not make them count. Thus, he has faded away after an impressive run at the U-19 level.

4. Taruwar Kohli

He is the only Kohli to score a first class triple century. Infact, he scored two. Taruwar scored 218 runs in six matches of the 2008 U-19 World Cup. However, a lack of consistency led to his decline.

5. Ajitesh Argal

He had won the Man of the Match in the tournament final. Still, he could not continue in the same vein. Currently, he is Income Tax inspector in Baroda.

6. Gaurav Dhiman

However, he could convert those chances. Dhiman played his last competitive T20 for Bellary in KPL 2014. He worked as a cricket expert for CrickPoint.

7. Yo Mahesh

Sadly, his career never took off at the senior level in international cricket. Mahesh recently announced his retirement from cricket.

8. Abu Nechim Ahmed

Although he scalped 10 wickets and did a decent job in IPL, he never got his big breakthrough. Currently, he is playing domestic cricket for Assam.

9. Praveen Gupta

Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik were his teammates. Gupta never got to play in the IPL. He was playing in the Everest Premier League in 2017.

10. Abhishek Sharma

Sharma played for the Delhi Giants in the ICL. He played his last competitive match in 2009.
