Deepti Sharma: 1st Indian Women's Cricketer To Take 100 WT20I Wickets

While Deepti Sharma had the bowling figures of 4-0-15-3, she also completed 100 WT20I wickets and became the first Indian Women’s cricketer to reach this milestone.

Deepti Sharma 1st Indian Women Cricketer To Take 100 WT20I Wickets

Off-spinner Deepti Sharma was the star with the ball for India Women during their comfortable win against West Indies Women in their Group 2 contest of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023. While Sharma had the bowling figures of 4-0-15-3, she also completed 100 WT20I wickets and became the first Indian Women’s cricketer to reach this milestone.

It was the second game for both India Women and West Indies Women in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023. After the Caribbean team chose to bat first at Cape Town, they only managed to score 118/6 in 20 overs.

In her one over, the Player of the Match Deepti Sharma dismissed both the set Caribbean batters Shemaine Campbelle (30) and Stafanie Taylor (42). Those two wickets also help her to become the leading WT20I wicket-taker for India Women.

Later, in the last over of that innings, Sharma bowled Afy Fletcher for a golden duck to complete her 100 WT20I wickets in 89 matches.

  • Ninth bowler to record 100 WT20I wickets.

India Women won by six wickets (with 11 balls remaining)


India Women chased down the target in 18.1 overs after losing four wickets. While the young opener Shafali Verma provided a flying start (28 off 23 balls), skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (33) and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh (44 not out) completed the job smoothly.
