Highest partnership for each wicket for India in T20Is

Being the shortest format of the game and the one that has been introduced the latest does not mean that there have not been big partnerships for each wicket depending on the situation of the game. As it is the shortest format of the game is a batsman’s match so fans get used to seeing big scores and big partnerships.

In the 15 years that India has played T20I cricket there have been many legendary partnerships involving different batters in different Wickets. These have made an impact on the overall result of the game.

So, let’s take a look at the highest partnership for each wicket for India in T20Is.

1st Wicket- Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul (165 Runs):

On this day both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were in a destructive mood and they were only looking at hitting sixes because the ground was not visible to them. They both hit a total of 18 sixes in the innings and their opening partnership was the highest for India in this format and Rohit Sharma scored a brutal century and KL Rahul scored an amazing 89 runs.

2nd Wicket- Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (138 Runs):

The two best batters for India in the limited overs formats of the game and it’s no surprise that their partnership is in this list. It was the Rohit Sharma show once again as he scored another brilliant century with 5 huge sixes and he was ably supported by Virat Kohli but it was the Hitman shoe , unfortunately India lost that match to South Africa.

3rd Wicket- Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina (134 Runs):

This match was all about Virat Kohli and him showing why he is the best batsman in the world and he was very well supported by Suresh Raina as they stitched a memorable partnership for India and this helped India to win the match against the mighty Aussies and the fans will remember this partnership.

4th Wicket- KL Rahul and MS Dhoni (107 Runs):

This was the highest scoring match in the history of T20IS and one of the major reasons for it was the class innings of KL Rahul in this match where he scored an amazing 110 runs off just 51 balls and he was ably supported by MS Dhoni but India agonizingly lost the match by 1 run.

5th Wicket- Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni (102* Runs):

Yuvraj Singh was at his imperious best in this match against Australia and this record setting partnership came in a chase of over 200 and Yuvi scored 77 off just 35 balls and Dhoni supported him with 24 runs and India won the match and a memory was made.

6th Wicket- Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya (70 Runs):

Only one batter stood up for India in this match against England and it was Virat Kohli as is the case so many times but he got a supportive partner in Hardik Pandya as they made 70 Runs for the 6th wicket but it wasn’t enough against the good England team .

7th Wicket- Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya (63* Runs):

It was a big chase for India of over 210 and Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya were the last batting pair for India and they gave it their all to win India the match but sadly it wasn’t enough as India lost by 4 runs but their partnership was a memorable one.

8th Wicket- Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh (61 Runs):

Suresh Raina stood up for India in this match and scored an amazing 61 Runs but he got a support in Harbhajan Singh for the 8th wicket as they made 61 Runs together but the score wasn’t enough to win India the match on that day.

9th Wicket- Rohit Sharma and Zaheer Khan (36 Runs):

Rohit Sharma was the one man show for India in this chase as he made a brilliant 79 runs and he did not get any support until Zaheer Khan came into bat and they stitched a useful partnership of 36 runs but as Rohit Sharma did not get any support elsewhere India lost that match.

10th Wicket- Sreesanth and RP Singh (17 Runs):

What can one say when the record for the last wicket partnership is only 17 runs but this small partnership was all about Sreesanth and his hitting abilities as he hit 4 fours and made everyone happy but India lost the match. Hopefully the record gets better.
