Namibia created history with their first bilateral international series win against a full-member team

Namibia recently played their first-ever bilateral international series and created history by winning that series. In their recent tour in Zimbabwe, the Eagles beat the hosts in the five-match thrilling T20I series by a 3-2 margin.

It was a tough T20I series for both the hosts' Zimbabwe and the visitors Namibia. Despite trailing this series twice, the Eagles not only leveled the series twice, but they also finished this series as the winners.

Both teams met for the final time in that recently concluded T20I series last Tuesday (24th May) at Bulawayo. While the Chevrons faced tough competition in their first T20I challenge since last September, the Eagles were more confident with their last T20I win on the final ball of the match, which was also their second-highest successful T20I chase (161/4 in 20 overs; target 158 runs).

5th T20I: Namibia beat Zimbabwe by 32 runs

Coming back to the series decider on Tuesday, where both teams already won two games each in this series, the hosts chose to field first after winning the toss. Zimbabwe restricted the Eagles to 127/8 in 20 overs. While the opener Craig Williams (48) was their only batter with 20+ runs in that first innings, the home bowlers were very disciplined.

However, the Chevrons’ batters completely struggled in the second innings as they never managed to fight back strongly at that chasing. The Eagles bundled Zimbabwe out for just 95 runs in 19.1 overs as their 32-run win also helped the visitors to snatch the trophy by a 3-2 margin. Only Tony Munyonga (28) crossed 15 runs in that innings.
