Rashid Khan - First Bowler to Take 200 T20I Wickets

Afghanistan's legendary leg-spinner Rashid Khan, the leading T20 wicket-taker, made history by becoming the first bowler to reach 200 T20I wickets.

It was the second game of the three-match T20I series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in Sharjah, where Afghanistan won the high-scoring game by 19 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

After Afghanistan scored 221/7 in 20 overs, thanks to Azmatullah Omarzai’s 116 off 50 balls, Zimbabwe were restricted to 202/5 in 20 overs. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza scored 106 not out off 56 balls, but the team suffered a close heart-breaking defeat.

Rashid Khan, who earlier scored a valuable 25 not out off just six balls with four sixes, had the match-winning bowling figures of 4-0-29-1. In the ninth over, he trapped Tadiwanashe Marumani for an lbw for just two runs, and it was the historic wicket in T20I history, as Rashid Khan completed his 200th T20I wicket. With that wicket, he became the first bowler in T20I history to complete 200 wickets in the format. The leg-spinner reached this historic feat in 120 games.
